Well Drink To Tomorrow Anyway

By Jimmy Shoals · This Town Is Full Of Ghosts

Another sunrise I was never promised, another cup of coffee gone cold in my hand. She smiles and asks, "What've you got planned?" I say, "Whatever the day demands." Another phone that still rings when I call it, another voice that's glad I'm around. Funny how the little things grow bigger when you quit countin' the big things down. No, we never knew what tomorrow held. Never kept us from pourin' one… We'll drink to tomorrow anyway… Another sunrise, another day. Another hand to hold a little longer, another song left to play. To the roads that brought us here, to the ones who lit the way. We'll drink to tomorrow anyway. Another truck pulls in the driveway, another chair gets pulled around. Somebody tells that same old story, gets a bigger laugh somehow. Another dock at the end of evenin', another bottle passed around. Another toast to the ones beside us, and the ones we're still carryin' now. Nobody here can borrow tomorrow. So let's pour another while we can… We'll drink to tomorrow anyway… Another sunrise, another day. Another dance across the kitchen, another reason here to stay. To the miles that made us who we are, to the price we'd gladly pay. We'll drink to tomorrow anyway. I spent too many years, just lookin' down the road, thinkin' all the best days, were waitin' to unfold. Turns out it was mornings, with the coffee gettin' cold, old friends showin' up, before the story's even told. Her hand reachin' for mine, the tide out on the bay — and that's all a good life ever needed anyway. We'll drink to tomorrow anyway… Another sunrise, another day. Another chance to laugh together, another chance to find our way. Here's to the stories still unfolding, and the dreams that found a way. We'll drink to tomorrow anyway… Here's to tomorrow… whatever it brings. Here's to the small good things… here's to one more ordinary day.
